Platinum Homes/Olympia and Samba Bank won opening day encounters of Hamdan Polo Cup for Lahore Open Polo Championship 2019 at Lahore Polo Club ground.
On the opening day of Hamdan Polo Cup for Lahore Open Polo Championship 2019, Platinum Homes/Olympia and Samba Bank registered contrasting victories at Lahore Polo Club ground.
The first match of the day was seen between Platinum Homes/Olympia and Dascon Construction Company/Guard Group where the first chukker started on a slow pace as only one goal was scored by Platinum Homes/Olympia to have 1-0 lead. Platinum Homes displayed better polo skills in the second chukker as they hammered a hat-trick of goals to enhance their lead to 4-0.
They continued their good show in the third chukker as well as they converted one more to further stretch their lead to 5-0. In the dying moments of the third chukker, Dascon showed some resistance and succeeded in opening their account as the score was 5-1 by the end of the third chukker. Platinum Homes further stamped their authority by pumping in three more back-to-back goals to win the match by 8-1.
Helped by an impressive hat-trick of Amirreza Behboudi, Platinum Homes/Olympia outclassed Dascon Construction Company/Guard Group by 8-1. Other than the hat-trick of Amirreza, Ahmed Ali Tiwana and Qadeer Ashfaq contributed with a brace and Ghulam Mustafa Monnoo with a goal. From the losing side, the only goal was scored by Hamza Khan.
In the closely-contested second match of the day, Edward Banner Eve's heroics helped Samba Bank edge out Barry's 6-5. From the winning team, Edward hit a hat-trick while Alman Jalil Azam, Adnan Jalil Azam and Turab Rizi struck one goal apiece. From the losing side, Ernesto Trotz fired in all the five goals but his efforts were futile.
Barry's started the match well by converting a brace against one by Samba Bank to take a slight 2-1 lead. Samba Bank bounced back well in the second chukker by banging in a brace to take 3-2 lead.
The third chukker was evenly poised as both the teams thrashed two goals each with Samba Bank still enjoying 5-4 lead. In the fourth and last chukker, Samba Bank converted one more to make it 6-4 while Barry's also fought back well and struck one to make it 6-5 but it was all they could get from the match, as they lost a close contest 6-5.
