In 53 minutes long encounter, fourth seed Asim was defeated by fifth seed Patrick Rooney from England by 3-1.
67th ranked in the World, Patrick got off to the best possible start as he won the opening two games to take the 2-0 lead. 74th ranked Lahore-born Asim was able to find his groove in the third games as he began to rattle off the points to test the movement of Patrick and eventually won the game at 11-8.
The comeback didn’t last long for Asim though, as the fourth game proved to be straightforward for Patrick where he continued to hit all of his targets with clean precision to win the encounter with the final score line of 11-7, 11-7, 8-11, 11-1.
Earlier, Asim ousted his compatriot Israr Ahmed by 3-1 to advance into the quarterfinal.
The fifth seeded Patrick Rooney from England continued his aggressive approach in the London Open as he sealed place in the all England final but top seed James Willstrop thrashed Patrick Rooney's hopes to win the title with the final score line of 8-11, 11-6, 11-7, 11-6 in 58 minutes.
Meanwhile, Pakistan’s Hamza Bukhari lost in the quarter-finals of the $6,000 Las Vegas Squash Open in Las Vegas. Sixth seed Hamza was beaten by top seed David Baillargeon from Canada 11-3, 11-4, 11-3 in 50 minutes.
