Dexterous Asim Khan reaches in quarters of $12,000 London Squash Open

Fourth seeded Asim Khan ousted his compatriot Israr Ahmed by 3-1 to sail into the quarterfinal of $12,000 London Squash Open in London.

Fourth seeded Asim Khan ousted his compatriot Israr Ahmed by 3-1 to advance into the quarterfinal of $12,000 London Squash Open in London. 

Israr Ahmed was better in the front of the court during the first game, and he was able to seal it 11-7.

Lahore-born Asim fought back after losing the first game as he took control of the ’T’ and was able to put his stamp on the way the game was being played and continued with some lengthy rallies, as some quick fire points throughout the middle period gave Asim the advantage. 

Asim won the encounter in 58-minute with the final score line of 7-11, 11-9, 11-9, 11-7.

Earlier, Israr beat Owain Taylor from Wales 10-12, 8-11, 11-6, 7-11 in 49 minutes in the first round while Asim got bye in the first round.  

Now, Asim will take on 5th seed England’s Patrick Rooney who is languishing at 67 in the world.
