Pakistan struggle with the ball against a strong batting display by Australia

Pakistan's bowling attack was made to toil by a strong Australian batting performance led by openers David Warner and Joe Burns on the second day of the first test match at Brisbane, Australia.

On a surface that offered little to no movement for Pakistan's seamers, Australia displayed a strong batting performance to take complete control of the first test match on the second day.

Australia's batting effort was led by openers David Warner and Joe Burns.

Pakistan's bowling attack had no answers as the two batted masterfully to put 222 runs for the opening wicket while chasing Pakistan's score of 240 in the first innings.

David Warner put his Ashes horror behind him and continued his penchant of facing Pakistani bowler as he completed his 4th century at the Gabba off 180 balls, courtesy of seven fours before converting it to 150 off 257 balls hitting three more 4's in the process.

Joe Burns, on the other hand, fell three runs short of his hundred, playing on the ball on an attempted sweep off Yasir Shah's bowling. That was the only respite for Pakistan's bowlers in an otherwise lethargic display.

Marnus Labuschagne also added to Pakistan's troubles completing his cautious fifty off 91 balls.

The pair of Warner and Labuschagne remained not on 151 and 55 respectively having taken Australia's lead to 72 runs.

With the majority of Australian batting lineup still to come, including the often indomitable Steven Smith, Australia will feel in complete control of this test match whereas Pakistan would hope for some quick wickets to limit the damage as they take the field for the third day of the match tomorrow.
