"Pakistani athletes capable of winning medals at international platforms" says top Korean Taewondo Coach, Han Sangsu

Top-notch Korean taekwondo coach, Master Han Sangsu is of the view that Pakistani taekwondo athletes are skilled and talented enough of winning medals at international events for the country.

The Korean taekwondo coach and expert, Mr Han Sangsu, who arrived in Pakistan on 7th November to train athletes for the upcoming South Asian Games 2019 and 2020 Tokyo Olympics, is witnessing incredible talent among the athletes during their training session that has left him stunned at the technical and physical soundness and so he commented "Pakistani athletes capable of winning medals at international platforms"

Korean Coach's training session was held at Pakistan Sports Complex, where among several players, notable presences were: Pakistan Tekwondo Federation (PTWF) President, Lt Col (R) Wasim Ahmed Janjua and female player, Najia Khan.

Mr Han said,
"I had been training top Korean players for last several years but I have never witnessed such a person [Wasim Ahmed Janjua] in my entire life, who is so dedicated and sincere with the game and athletes. This is the result of Col Wasim’s efforts that taekwondo is gaining massive popularity in Pakistan. The local athletes are capable enough of doing wonders at any given stage but they lack in exposure and badly need to improve minor flaws in their techniques. They also need to pay huge attention towards nutrition, as they don’t know what they require after going through tough training,"
According to the foreign Coach, even the gold medalists of the sport have huge flaws in their techniques on which he is working on their training and improving their mistakes. PTWF also arranged a one-week camp at Abbottabad, that resulted in huge help for the athletes. They then moved to Islamabad to continue their training without rest.
“I know we have very short time left in the 13th South Asian Games in Nepal, but hopefully, we will be able to prepare our athletes well for the mega event. I will accompany strong Pakistani contingent." Coach, Han Sangsu said.
The Korean coach says his basic target is 2024 Olympics that if he trains Pakistani athletes for next two years, they can become more capable of winning at any given event. He seems to remain hopeful that Pakistan taekwondo team will produce desired results in Nepal.

PTWF President, Lt Col (R) Wasim Ahmed shared his views:
"I am grateful to Umar Saeed and our Patron Gen Javed Iqbal Ramdey for helping us in holding the camp at Abbottabad and they are also helping us in paying around expenditures of 20 persons of our contingent, which will take part in Nepal SAG. Master Han is selecting the team and he will monitor players’ performance. We are working very hard to win more gold medals in Nepal. Haroon is our main hope as he left for 12-day training in Korea last night and he will join Pakistani contingent on November 30 in Nepal. "
"Last night, we were given confirmation of 16 athletes and two officials for the SAG, while we are taking 26 players and total 35. The federation will bear expenses of 19 additional persons..." he added.
