Pakistan’s foremost pistol shooter Khalil Akhtar could not qualify for the finals after he finished 13th at the ISSF World Cup Final Rifle/Pistol in Putian, China.
Khalil, who won a quota place for Tokyo 2020 in September, scored 576 points (290, 286) in the qualification round to take 13th position among 15 shooters in the 25 meter Rapid Fire Pistol event.
The two other Pakistani shooters who have won quota places for Tokyo 2020 are Ghulam Mustafa Bashir, and Gulfam Joseph.
Pakistan won three quota places to take 10th position out of 16 countries in shooting in Asia. China tops the list with 25 quotas and India is second with 15 quotas. South Korea and Japan are third and fourth with 14 and 12 quotas, respectively.
In total 102 quotas were won by 16 Asian countries. Meanwhile, National Rifle Association of Pakistan (NRAP) is going to arrange six weeks training for Pakistani shooters with an Italian coach to prepare them for Tokyo Olympics 2020.
