Professional boxing in Pakistan recently went through a drastic change when Pakistan Boxing Federation (PBF) finally decided to validate the Pakistan Professional Boxing League (PPBL) allowing it to hold its events with professional foreign boxers.

PBF President, Mohammad Khalid Mahmood announced the news saying,
“Yes, we’ve authorized the PPBL to hold its Professional Boxing League on the pattern of AIBA. We are sure it will promote professional boxing in the country."
To which PPBL President, Syed Nauman Shah said,
"This is a watershed moment. This has happened after almost a year of planning and working on how the PPBL can support the PBF in the development and promotion of boxing in Pakistan. We are thankful to the PBF for officially recognizing us and supporting our endeavors to launch and operate Pakistan’s first-ever Professional Boxing League.”
He also said that this step towards the development of the sport of boxing will surely help promote boxing in Pakistan and enable the Pakistani pugilists to match international standards and also pursue their Olympic dreams.

Currently there are around 90 professional boxers in Pakistan, including five female pugilists. PBF's acceptance will provide a permanent, viable professional career path to these boxers. And it is for sure that their number will witness a remarkable rise in the days to come.

Meanwhile, PBF and PPBL also constituted the Professional Boxing Management Committee to regulate professional boxing activities in Pakistan in accordance with the PBF and AIBA rules and PPBL is already set to hold Arabian Sea Title Fight in Islamabad by the end of next month as well.
