Inter-Provincial Games postponed yet again
Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) on Monday postponed the First Quaid-e-Azam Inter-Provincial Games because of the fragile security situation in the country.
Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) on Monday postponed the First Quaid-e-Azam Inter-Provincial Games because of the fragile security situation in the country.
The decision was taken at the organising committee meeting chaired by the federal secretary of the ministry of inter-provincial coordination (IPC) Mohammad Ali Gardezi in Islamabad on Monday.
“The participants of the meeting expressed deep grief over the sad incidents that took place in Lahore and Islamabad on March 27, 2016,” the PSB said on Monday.
“Taking into cognizance of the current situation, Quaid-e-Azam Inter-Provincial Games 2016 have been postponed for the time being,” the PSB said.
A source in the PSB told ‘The News’ that the Board would decide about the new dates within a week.
The source said that all arrangements had been completed. “We were ready but unfortunately security issues forced us to postpone it,” the source said.
The Board was going to spend Rs137 million on staging the competitions.
This is the second time that the event has been postponed. Last year the event had been postponed on the advice of the Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif because of the simmering heat.
Around 2500 athletes and officials from the four provinces, Gilgit-Baltistan, Islamabad, FATA and Azad Kashmir will take part in the competitions.
