5 leading Pakistani boxers to train in Mongolia for 2020 Olympics qualifiers
Pakistan Boxing Federation (PBF) has signed a deal with Mongolia to send five leading Pakistani fighters for a month long training camp for the upcoming 2020 Olympics qualifiers.
According to the information provided by Pakistan Boxing Federation (PBF) Secretary, Col Nasir Tung, PBF has agreed to a deal with Mongolia where five leading Pakistani boxers will be sent to the East Asian state for one-month to receive training for the 2020 Olympics qualifiers which are to be held from February to May.
“We talked to Mongolia and they have agreed. We will send five top boxers there for one month ahead of the Olympic qualifiers.” Nasir said.
The five leading boxers will be purely selected on the basis of their performance at the 13th South Asian Games which are to be held from 1 to 10 December, 2019 in Nepal.
Pakistan has been unable to ensure its participation in any international event since the 18th Asian Games held in Indonesia last year due to the lack of financial support as the country last featured in Olympics in 2004 in Athens.
Nasir was complaining towards some of the provincial associations which have fielded aged fighters in the National Games 2019 as he was of the view to focus on the young talent. Although he appreciated women boxers’ passionate involvement in the National Games.
