Japan based Pakistani Judoka, Shah Hussain to compete at Judo Osaka Grand Slam 2019
Proficient Pakistani Judo athlete, Shah Hussain Shah will feature in Judo Osaka Grand Slam 2019 that will be held from 22nd to 24th November in Japan.
Penultimate event in the race of upcoming 2020 Tokyo Olympics, Judo Osaka Grand Slam 2019 will be held from 22nd to 24th November at Maruzen Intec Arena in Osaka, Japan. The event will will feature participants from as many as 100 countries among which 351 will be male athletes while 250 will be the women fighters.
Among the many participating nations, Pakistan is fielding its most prized Judoka, the Japan-based, Shah Hussain Shah, who is Pakistan Judo Federation's only hope for the Tokyo Olympics next year, to solidify his grip on the Olympic spot he had recently earned.
Shah qualified for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics on Asia’s continental quota following his remarkable performance in 100 KG division in the recently concluded Abu Dhabi Judo Grand Slam 2019 where he finished fifth after which he became the top Judo athlete of Asia by jumping up 20 positions by accumulating a total of 746 marks in the Olympic qualifying ranking.
Pakistan Judo Federation (PJF) Vice President, Masood Ahmed also informed that,
“We will also field him in Asian Open, taking place in Hong Kong early next month, to help consolidate his position."
