Mahoor, Palwasha lead women's charge for Pakistan on Day 1 of Yonex Sunrise Pakistan International Series 2019
Pakistani player managed to form half of Women's Singles Quarter-Finals lineup of Yonex Sunrise Pakistan International Series 2019 as round 1 and 2 concluded on the opening day of the tournament.
Round 1 and 2 of Women's singles and doubles for Yonex Sunrise Pakistan International Series 2019 were played today at Rodham Hall, Islamabad Sports Complex, Islamabad .
Pakistan #1 and tournament's second seed, Mahoor Shehzad looked formidable in her match as she dominated Amita Giri of Nepal in just 16 minutes to book spot in the quarter finals with a score of 21-11 and 21-3. Karachi born Palwasha had to play a 3-gamer as she made a comeback after loosing the tough first game by 15-21 against Anu Maya Rai of Nepal. Palwasha won the next two games by 21-10 and 21-8.
Other Pakistani players joining the quarter final line of Women's Singles are Sehra Akram and Bushra Qayyum.
Earlier in the day, many of the entrants of the women's singles, including the number one seed Soraya Aghaeihajiagha from Iran, earned a first round bye to move directly into the second round of the tournament.
