The first pick of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 5 could reportedly be decided via methods used in street crickets such as pugam pugai — a selection method similar to rock-paper-scissors. The new method will be on display on Sunday (Nov 3) when the opening draft will be decided at an event staged at either the Greater Iqbal Park or Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.
PCB agreed on principle that teams will have squads of 18 players instead of 21 in the next edition of the tournament. The PSL management decided to cut down salary cap for teams to $1.1m.
Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchises have come to a mutual agreement that the foreign players that will be a part of PSL 2020 will be paid in Pakistani Rupee.
Local players have been divided into five categories: Platinum, Diamond, Gold, Silver and Emerging where Platinum is the highest paid category among the PSL's players.
Imad, Nawaz, Afridi, and Tanvir join Babar Azam, Faheem Ashraf, Fakhar Zaman, Hasan Ali, Imad Wasim, Kamran Akmal, Mohammad Aamir, Mohammad Hafeez, Mohammad Irfan, Mohammad Nawaz, Sarfaraz Ahmed, Shadab Khan, Shaheen Shah Afridi, Shahid Afridi, Shoaib Malik, Sohail Tanvir, and Wahab Riaz in the platinum category.
