Pakistani Judoka, Shah Hussain becomes Asia's top Judo athlete
Prominent Pakistani Judo athlete, Shah Hussain Shah jumped up 20 positions in the Olympic qualifying rankings.
The information provided by Pakistan Judo Federation President, Col (R) Junaid Alam states that the Japan-based Pakistani Judoka, Shah Hussain Shah has become the top Judo athlete of Asia by a huge jump of 20 positions by accumulating a total of 746 marks in the Olympic qualifying ranking. Shah did not just improve his international ranking but also has left his Indian rival, Avtar Singh miles behind, who was 16 points ahead of him but now stands 180 points behind.
It was Shah's 5th spot finish in the recently concluded Judo Grand Slam UAE 2019 that earned him 42nd position in Olympic qualifying ranking in the latest rankings list released by International Judo Federation (IJF).
Pakistan Judo Federation (PJF) has planned a series of more events for Shah Hussain, who competes in -100 KG category, in the months to come that would help him further improve his Olympic Rankings by taking up more points into his tally as he needs to maintain his position till 20th May 2020, for which he cannnot afford to miss any event in this crucial race.
The ace Pakistani Judoka will now feature in Australia, Japan, Hong Kong and six more events in Europe to maintain his position.
Pakistan Judo Federation (PJF) is making all efforts purely on its own to send Shah in as many ranking tournaments as possible before the upcoming 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
