National Ranking Open Golf commences today
The second edition of the RMI National Ranking Open Golf Tournament, carrying a purse prize of Rs 1.5 million with a 1300cc car for hole-in-one, will be commencing today (Friday) over 54-holes here at PAF Golf Course
The second edition of the RMI National Ranking Open Golf Tournament, carrying a purse prize of Rs 1.5 million with a 1300cc car for hole-in-one, will be commencing today (Friday) over 54-holes here at PAF Golf Course here.
This was stated by Tournament Director and international golfer Arshad Mehmood while addressing a press conference here at Club premises on Thursday.
Flanked by KP Golf Association secretary Col Zaka Ullah Khan and Director Administration Col M Tariq Khan, Arshad revealed that leading golfers from across the country including Pakistan No 1 professional M Munir, Shabbir Iqbal, Waheed Baloch, former Pakistan team member Hamza Amin, former skipper Pakistan team Tariq Mehmood, Ansar Mehmood, M Nazir, Talib Hussain.
In ladies, national golfers Miss Maliha Ilahi (Islamabad), Tahir Nazir (Islamabad), Dr Soni Wali, Major Miss Abeera and Miss Aroba Ali have also competing in event.
Arshad said that the course was in excellent condition while the fairways and greens were nicely prepared, hopefully giving denting task for the top golfers during three-day event to be played over 54-holes, 18-holes a day.
He said top amateur and professional would compete in HCP 10 and below and besides professional and amateur.
“In subsidiary matches HCP 10-18 boys U-15 and U-18 (over 18-holes each), ladies (over 18-holes), senior amateurs and veterans amateurs (over 18-holes) and senior professional (over 36-holes) will be played on March 26.
A putting competition of children and families will also be organised on the final and prize distribution day.
”
Arshad said that foolproof security arrangements had been taken in and around the golf course and the players would enjoy their golfing round from Mar 25-27, 2016.
He said in the guidance of president of the association Lt Gen Hidayat-ur-Rehman, they were holding all the golfing activities without any break by following the Pakistan golfing calendar accordingly.
“The tournament will be governed by the rules of Royals and Ancient Golf Club of St Andrews along with local rules.
”
“As chairman rules committee, we have Col Zaka Ullah Khan, international golfer Col Saud, will look after the tournament in order to ensure smooth sailing,” he added.
