Aisam & Santiago qualifiy for Swiss Indoors Basel 2019

Aisam ul Haq and his polished partner Santiago González qualified for the ATP 500 points Swiss Indoors Basel men's double main round which is slated to be held from today (21st October) in Basel, Switzerland.

Aisam & his partner Santiago González are up against world No. 69 ranked, Albert Ramos Viñolas and world number 23 ranked, Dušan Lajovi in the men’s doubles round of 16.

In first qualifying round Pak-Mexican duo toppled the pair of Robert Lindstedt & Jonny O'Mara with the final score line of 7-6(5), 3-6,10-3 and Divij Sharan of India & New Zealand’s Artem Sitak by 6-3, 5-7, 10-7 in second qualifying round.

As the third largest indoor tournament of the ATP Tour, the 50th edition of Swiss Indoors Basel carries a total prize money of €2,082,655.

In 2009, Pakistan's tennis ace Aisam ul Haq Qureshi and his doubles partner James Cerritani brushed aside tennis great and world number one, Roger Federer and his Swiss compatriot Marco Chiudinelli in straight sets at the Basel Open.
This was the first time Aisam and Federer faced each other on the men’s circuit.

Roger Federer, who once served as a ball boy at the Swiss Indoors Basel, fittingly is the most successful player in the event's history, winning nine titles at his hometown tournament. Switzerland’s leading sport event boasts an impressive list of former champions, including tennis Hall of Famers Bjorn Borg, Ivan Lendl, John McEnroe, Boris Becker, Stefan Edberg and Pete Sampras.
