UAE-based Pakistani Taekwondo stars, Sinan & Ammar collect gold medals in 4th UAE-Korean Taekwondo Championship

Pakistani brothers hailing from Dubai, Ammar Ashfaq and Sinan Ashfaq grabbed gold medals at the 2019 UAE-Korean Taekwondo Championship which successfully concluded in Sharjah.

Taekwondo is one of the official medal sports at the Olympic Games since 2000, and it is a sport that is enjoyed by more than 80 million people worldwide. The 4th successful edition of UAE-Korean Taekwondo Championship saw participation from more than 230 male and female Taekwondo players from across the UAE. The event was organised by the UAE Taekwondo Federation (UTF) in collaboration with the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in UAE.

A Korean demonstration team also especially came from South Korea to participate in the event and they mesmerized the audience with an outstanding display of taekwondo skills at the ceremony, which was attended by hundreds of athletes, their parents and officials.

Among several participating talented and skilled Taekwondo fighters, Ammar Ashfaq and Sinan Ashfaq once again represented Pakistan at this international event where they excelled being a part of Sharjah Club Team where Ammar caught the gold medal after beating Fujairah Martial Arts Club's player convincingly by 23-0 in the final of the junior Under-73 KG category, while Sinan also easily outscored his opponent by 11-2 in the final of the Cadet Plus 65 KG class. 

This gold for Sinan is the third in his medal collection in the current year as he had also won two silver medals at international events this year.

The Father of these two brothers, Ashfaq appreciated the opportunity given to his sons by saying,
"My sons were provided opportunities by PTF President, Lt Col (R) Wasim Ahmed Janjua, as he always wants the country to do well in international arena. Being Pakistani, I will always love to help my country and take every step to ensure that my sons keep on lifting medals at international stages.”
