Pakistani shooters participation in international events rises in the current year
Pakistan’s shooters have recorded second biggest participation in international events this year since 2012.
Several skilled and talented shooters from the country participated in many international events this year due to which they recorded second biggest participation in international events this year since 2012.
This was made possible by the efforts of National Rifle Association of Pakistan (NRAP) that arranged these quality participation for shooters this year keeping in view the upcoming 2020 Tokyo Olympics. And to this effort's success, one of the shooters also did win a quota place for Tokyo 2020 Olympics at the recently concluded World Cup in Rio.
As many as 16 top shooters of the country are set to participate in the 14th Asian Championship scheduled in Doha from November 3-14. This is the last event for Pakistani shooters to win quota places for the upcoming Olympics and the Association expects more shooters to come out successful.
Las year, a total of 11 shooters participated in Asian Championships in Kuwait and World Championships in Changwon and in the year 2017, 12 shooters took part in Asian Championships in Wako City, World Championships in Moscow, and World Cups in Larnaca and Gabala.
2016 year stood witness of 10 Pakistani shooters playing in different events in Asian Championships in Tehran and Abu Dhabi, and World Cup in San Marino.
08 shooters featured in World Cups in Gabala, Changwon, and Al-Ain, and World Championships in Lonato, 2015 and 09 more shooters participated in Asian Championship in Al-Ain and Kuwait, a year before.
2013-13 saw 10 shooters taking part in Asian Championships in Tehran and Almaty, and World Cup in Granada and 18 shooters featuring in Asian Championships in Doha and Nanchang, and a World Cup in London, respectively.
Executive Vice President NRAP, Javaid Lodhi said that,
“There was a time when only those who could afford were able to participate in international events. But we have managed to improve things. It was a big achievement for Pakistan that one of its shooters won a quota place for Olympics 2020."
