Khyber Pakhtunkhwa defeated Balochistan after a solid bowling performance from Mohammad Mohsin in the first encounter while Sindh triumphed over Central Punjab with one ball to spare despite Babar Azam's 102 in the second clash of National T20 Cup 2019/20 at Iqbal Stadium in Faisalabad.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa kicked off the National T20 Cup 2019/20 in Faisalabad with an easy seven wicket win over Baluchistan in the tournament’s first game.

Having selected to field after winning the toss, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa outfit held their counterparts to a modest total of 140 from their respective 20 overs thanks to a solid bowling effort from Mohammad Mohsin, who finished his spell with 4 wickets for only 17 runs, despite the opening partnership of 65 between Awais Zia and Imam-ul-Haq. The rest of the batsmen failed to contribute much to the total after that which included regular internationals Haris Sohail and Hussain Talat failing to even get on the scoresheet.

In reply, the team from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa easily managed to chase down the final score thanks to an aggressive start provided by Fakhar Zaman and meaningful contributions from Mohammad Rizwan and Adil Amin, the later top scoring with 46 from just 21 balls.

For his bowling effort, Mohammad Mohsin was awarded the man of the match award.

In the second game of the day, a batting masterclass from Babar Azam went in vain as Sindh managed to scrape past the daunting target of 188 against Central Punjab with one ball to spare.

Babar’s 102 came off just 59 balls and included 7 fours and 5 sixes. Rizwan Hussain and Umar Akmal chipped in with thirties to take the final tally to 188 from their allotted twenty overs.

In reply, Sindh managed to string several small partnerships together and relied on a collective team effort to chase down the target. Khurram Manzoor top scored with 50 but Sarfraz Ahmed, Asad Shafiq and Anwar Ali added quick fire runs to take Sindh over the line in the contest.

Asad Shafiq was handed the man of the match honours to close out the first day of the tournament.
