Pakistan overcame Colombia 2-1 in a warm-up match for Socca World Cup 2019
Pakistan Socca team recorded a 2-1 victory against their counterparts from Colombia in the 2nd Socca World Cup warm-up game in Crete, Greece.
Team Pakistan trained in Crete, Greece ahead of their 2nd Socca World Cup opener, where the team was up against Colombia in a friendly match in which the green shirts struggled quiet for sometime but eventually won the match on final score line of 2-1 with significant guidance from Waheed, who was later declared the "Man of the Match".
According to information made available, Gohar Zaman and Mohammad Waheed scored one goal each to give Pakistan an important pep-up victory before the team begins tournament's proper campaign on today with a match against Slovenia.
The team’s coach, Kevin Reeves expressed satisfaction over team’s performance and hoped that the team would put the same show in their group matches. Reeves has named Karim Kerai as Captain of the team.
Pakistan are placed in Group ‘H’ along with Slovenia, Germany, Hungary and Romania. After a match against Slovenia today, Pakistan will then take on Romania on tomorrow. On October 16, Pakistan will clash with a strong side, Germany, which won the inaugural edition of the Socca World Cup last year in Portugal. In its last group match, Pakistan will take on Hungary on October 17.
The semifinals, third place play-off and the summit clash will be played on October 20.
Leisure Leagues COO, Ishaq Shah said that the warm-up game victory was very important for the team as they now have a believe that if they can do it once, they can surely be able to do it again.
