Israr Khattak won the 25-km Wah Open Marathon
Israr Khattak won the 25-km Wah Open Marathon here on Wednesday.
Israr with this victory pocketed a cash prize of Rs120,000. Faizan Khan came second and Nadeem Hassan third.
The event, featuring around three thousand runners from across the country, was arranged by POF Sports Control Board to mark the Pakistan Day.
In the 3km race for U-12 boys, Abdul Salam was declared winner while Mohammad Abdullah Iqbal came second and Hamza Ali third.
The 3km race for girls was clinched by Irum Shahzadi followed by Kiran Shehzadi (second) and Zainab Khan (third).
Saadia Hashim meanwhile claimed the U-12 girls title.
The silver category 10km race, for 45-50 years age group, was won by Mohammad Marauf. Shaukat Ali Khan was second and Mohammad Bashir third.
The senior category, for above-55-year-old runners, was clinched by Waris Masih.
Pakistan Ordnance Factories (POF) chief Lt Gen Omar Mahmood Hayat was the chief guest at the prize distribution ceremony.
Speaking on this occasion, Lt Gen Omar said such activities would be continued and in this connection Asia Kabaddi Championship would be arranged at Wah Cantt in which six countries would participate.
