Pakistani ace Judoka, Shah Hussain set to take on Dichev Daniel of Bulgaria in Brasilia Grand Slam 2019

Japan based Pakistani Judoka, Shah Hussain would be featuring in the upcoming Brasilia Grand Slam 2019 for his Tokyo 2020 Olympics qualifying race, against Bulgaria's Dichev Daniel today in Brazil.

Pakistan Judo Federation (PJF) has planned a series of events for the Tokyo-based Olympian, Shah Hussain who would compete in -100 KG category, first in the 2019 Brasilia Grand Slam where he will take on his skilled counterpart, Daniel Dichev of Bulgaria in the first round. 

Daniel, who is 28, stands at 40th in World Ranking and 38th in Olympic Ranking while Shah is far behind him in both, World Ranking which is 74 and Olympic Ranking: 62 for which Shah will have to produce solid performance in the event to improve his Olympic Ranking so as to be able to qualify for the upcoming 2020 Tokyo Olympics. 

Shah's international ranking have risen from 26 places to 73rd where he improved up to 94th to 57th position as his display of skills was exceptional when he won three fights in the World Championships in Tokyo. 

To Shah's upcoming fight, Pakistan Judo Federation (PJF) Vice President, Masood Ahmed said,
"I am very much hopeful he will do his best.” 

He also informed that according to International Judo Federation rules, if a judoka gets 54th Olympic ranking position Shah would be able to earn a spot for prestigious event on continental quota and Shah is just three points behind that target.
