Pakistani top badminton player Mahoor Shahzad claimed a bronze medal in the Bulgarian International Championships 2019 at Sofia, Bulgaria.
Pakistan’s badminton bigwig Mahoor Shahzad claimed a bronze medal in the Bulgarian International Championships 2019 at Sofia, Bulgaria.
The 22-year-old from Karachi, who is ranked 165 in the standings, had a walkover in Round 32.
She beat Turkey’s Aslihan Ayna by 21-14, 21-8 in Round 16 and went on to claim a 21-11, 21-20 win over Bulgaria’s Tanya Ivanova in the quarter-finals.
Her campaign came to an end with a 17-21, 12-21 defeat to Getter Saar of Estonia in the semifinals.
Inga Sadaic and Mahoor Shahzad, who could not progress beyond the semi-final stage, were awarded the bronze medals.
Mahoor managed to clinch the Bronze medal for Pakistan at the Bulgarian International Championship 2019 as she was the only Pakistani player participating in the tournament.
Jubilant Mahoor of WAPDA is holding the Pakistan No. 1 ranking by winning the national title since 2016 of women singles. After 25 wins in her vocation, the 22-year old is currently ranked at 149.
Karachi-predicated Mahoor showed her excellency and proved herself to be an honour for the whole country as Mahoor is the only Pakistani player among the 20 players selected from Asia to be a part of the program that prepares potential players for the Olympics.
Mahoor Shahzad won the Annapurna Corporate Invitational International Badminton Tournament Championships 2018 in Nepal. She also won the 2017 Pakistan International Tournament of badminton and also took part in the Asian Games and Commonwealth Games.
