Mohammad Asif advances into quarters of IBSF 6-Reds World Snooker Championship 2019
Mohammad Asif stayed in contention after winning back-to-back matches to advance into quarter-final in the ongoing IBSF 6-Reds World Snooker Championship at Mandalay.
Country’s top cueist Mohammad Asif stayed in contention after winning back-to-back matches to advance into quarter-final as his two compatriots Zulfiqar A. Qadir and Mohammad Ahsan Javaid crashed out in the ongoing IBSF 6-Reds World Snooker Championship at Mandalay.
Asif first carved out an emphatic 5-2 victory over Bahrain’s Habib Sabah (4-64, 40-4, 31-30, 65-0, 29-28, 0-44, 41-7) and then sent Myanmar’s Niang Win packing 5-1 (24-36, 41-24, 71-0, 41-0, 62-0, 33-27).
The other two Pakistani cueists Ahsan and Zulfiqar went down to Indian Pankaj Advani one by one in the last-32 and last-16 respectively.
Ahsan was the first to made exit after Pankaj coasted to 5-1 (44-0, 5-33, 40-18, 35-27, 50-1, 35-5) win in the last-32.
Zulfiqar, who struggled to whip Indian Anuj Uppal in nerve-tingling last-32 duel 5-4 (16-38, 6-35, 34-24, 40-1, 29-44, 41-15, 33-3, 0-66, 37-16) could not go beyond last-16 losing to Pankaj 2-5. The latter halted Zulfiqar’s run registering (53-16, 75-0, 42-0, 0-41, 29-36, 70-0, 46-0) victory to justify his credentials.
