Pakistan to host World Boxing Council (WBC) Arabian Sea Title Fight 2019
For the first time ever, Pakistan would be hosting the World Boxing Council (WBC) Arabian Sea Title Fight 2019 which is all set to be held in November in Islamabad.
Pakistan is all set to host World Boxing Council (WBC) Arabian Sea Title Fight 2019 for the first time ever, in association with the Pakistan Professional Boxing League (PPBL) that would feature fighters from as many as 16 countries that would be hosted by the federal capital, Islamabad.
Participating nations namely are: Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, Oman, Iran, Iraq, Sri Lanka, Yemen, Afghanistan, Somalia, Djibouti, Maldives and India.
To this boost in professional boxing in Pakistan PPBL President Syed Nouman Shah was of the view that,
“It will be a huge event as top professional boxers from this region will be seen in action for the first time in Pakistan in various fighting categories. This event will also provide a perfect platform to our pugilists to come in the limelight and showcase their talent to the world."
Pakistan is able to host such a huge international event with the efforts of Pakistan Professional Boxing League (PPBL) as it aims to promote professional boxing in the country.
Exemplifying and praising Pakistan’s emerging boxing talent, Mohammad Waseem, who recently won his second professional bout in Dubai, Nouman said Pakistan is a country brimming with natural sports talent,
“I believe we can produce several boxing superstars like him [Waseem] in all fighting categories."
Nouman further said that World Boxing Council (WBC) President, Mauricio Suleiman was highly impressed with the boxing talent of Pakistan and wanted to see this sport flourish here. He further informed the media that WBC President had also invited PPBL to the 57th WBC Convention which is scheduled to be held from 20 to 26 October in Cancun, Mexico.
“He [Mauricio] is well aware about the vast talent we’ve in boxing. He is taking personal interest to promote the sport in Pakistan. Our 12-member delegation will attend 57th WBC Convention. We’ll be honored there as the WBC President will also announce us as its only representative in Pakistan. It is heartening that our efforts are yielding results and we are being honored at world level.”
