Pakistan makes it to 20th Asian Senior Men's Volleyball Championship quarter finals
Pakistan have qualified for the quarter-final of the 20th Asian Senior Men’s Volleyball Championships after registering a convincing 3-1 defeat over Kuwait in Tehran, Iran.
Pakistan Volleyball Team opened their campaign against South Korean Team where they went down to the four time champions, South Korean Volleyball Team quiet horribly on 3-0 score line by the set scores of 23-35, 23-25 and 19-25.
But as the green shirts faced their first loss, they quickly bounced back into the tournament with winning their second encounter in a thrilling game against Indonesia by 3-2 scoreline with the set scores of 25-20, 26-24, 19-25, 20-25 and 15-13.
And the Pakistani team boys continued their winning performance as they further triumphed in their third group clash with Kuwait, claiming the match on 3-1 scoreline with the set scores of 5-19, 20-25, 25-22, 25-16.
Pakistan's game play dominated the match from the very started which resulted in their win of the very first set rather convincingly but their strategy to win started to fail a little in the second set as they lost it by 5 points difference. On 1-1 win, both the teams' players tried their best to collect to their tally the next win but it was Pakistani boys yet again, who won the third set.
Kuwaiti players were threatened by the astonishing plays from Pakistani team captain, Aimal Khan who was well assisted by ace, Murad Khan and Mubashar Raza, while Zaheer Khan excelled in blocking for the team. Pakistan was declared the topper of their pool when they won the fourth set as well easily against the opponent.
Other countries, which have also moved up to the quarter-final stage are Japan, Chinese Taipei, Iran and Australia. Two more teams will be decided after the end of the pool matches which are yet to be played today, tomorrow and the day after tomorrow. Pakistan will next be up against Japan tomorrow.
The 2019 Asian Men's Volleyball Championship is being the 20th edition of the Asian Men's Volleyball Championship, a biennial international volleyball tournament organised by the Asian Volleyball Confederation (AVC) with Islamic Republic of Iran Volleyball Federation (IRIVF) which is featuring teams from: South Korea, Indonesia, Kuwait, Iran, Pakistan, Australia, Qatar, Sri Lanka, Japan, Chinese Taipei, Thailand, Hong Kong, Kazakhstan, China, Oman and India.
