Former Asian champion, Saadi Abbas of Pakistan targets victory in Karate 1 Premier League 2019

Pakistan’s premier karateka, Ghulam Saadi Abbas is all set to represent Pakistan yet again in the upcoming Karate 1 Premier League which is to be held from 6 to 8 September in Tokyo, Japan.

Former Asian champion, Ghulam Abbas Saadi is eyeing victory in the upcoming Karate 1 Premier League 2019 which would be held in Tokyo city of Japan from 06 to 08 September, where several talented karatikas from various nations would be competing against each other to qualify for next year’s Tokyo Olympics, as this Karate 1 Premier League is a Karate competition introduced by the World Karate Federation in 2011 to provide a homogeneous system for qualification to the Olympic Karate tournament.

While for Pakistan, Saadi, the premier karateka from the nation, is the sole 2020 Olympics hope for which the Dubai-based fighter, Saadi participates in almost every Olympic qualifying event and
fights in -75 KG competitions. He is being backed by Indus Motor Company (IMC).

Pakistan Karate Federation (PKF) Chairman, Mohammad Jehangir is of the view that he expects a lot from Saadi as he is their lone hope for the next year’s Tokyo Olympics. He had missed Canada Open, and would not like to miss any other event as it was very important to ensure his presence in every assignment which would help him confirm his Olympic seat.

Saadi recently reached 18th spot as per Olympics ranking. He needs to be among the top five fighters at the end of the qualifying phase next year, to which the fighter said,

“Yes, that’s my next target. Because of my wedding issues, I could not train the way I should have but now I am fully focused on the event in Japan."
Besides the Tokyo assignment, Saadi in the next few months will have to feature in a handful of Series A and Premier League events. National Games are slated to be held in Peshawar from 26 October to 1st November while South Asian Games are penciled in for 01 to 10 December in Nepal.
