Pakistan’s premier judoka, Shah Hussain to compete against Saidov Saidzhalol of Tajikistan in World Judo Championships 2019
Top Judo athlete of Pakistan, Shah Hussain is set to have his first bout against Tajikistan's Saidov Saidzhalol in -100 KG competition of the 2019 World Judo Championships in Tokyo, Japan.
The World Judo Championship 2019 is featuring a total of 860 competitors among which 519 are men and 341 are women fighters belonging to 149 different countries, whose athletes are competing in seven different weight classes with hopes to earn top honors in the championship as well as to earn an entry to the upcoming 2020 Tokyo Olympics as this coveted quadrennial world event is also serving as Qualifying event for the Olympics.
From Pakistan's side, A four-member Pakistan squad is competing in this event where Pakistan Judo Federation (PJF) have fielded four Judokas who are representing Pakistan which include: Shah Hussain Shah (-100 k), Mohammad Hasnain (-66 KG), Amina Toyda (- 57 KG) and Humaira (- 49 KG).
Pakistan's experienced Judoa, Humaira Ashiq and rookie, Mohammad Hasnain have already been shown exit doors at the first hurdles while Tokyo-based, Amina Toyoda have also lost to Starke Pauline of Germany in her -57 KG category, becoming the third Pakistani fighter to face exit in the first round.
The the only hopes remain on the top class Judoka, who is also Japan-based, representing Pakistan namely: Shah Hussain. He is currently ranked 99th in the world and is set to face Saidov Saidzhalol of Tajikistan, who is currently ranked at 54th in the world, in -100 KG first round fight today.
Regarding his upcoming fight Shah semms to be confident as he said he is confident to put in his best as this event is very significant for the Tokyo-based fighter who is also a former Asian bronze medalist. Shah was the first Pakistani Judoka to had qualify for Olympics back in 2016 when he won a bronze medal in Rio Games.
