Pakistan claims 4th spot at 3rd Asian Men's U-23 Volleyball Championship

Pakistan finished fourth when they went 0-3 down against Japan in the bronze medal encounter of the 2019 Asian Men’s Under-23 Volleyball Championship at Wunna Theikdi Indoor Stadium at Nay Pyi Taw, Myanmar.

 

Both the unbeaten teams of this mega international event, Japan and Pakistan went down to face each-other in the bronze medal cash where Japan's team was the one to win it over Pakistan and thus Pakistan ended up at the fourth position.

Japanese got off to a brilliant start to win the first set 25-18 against Pakistan but Murad Khan and Ali Usman Faryad brought Pakistan back on track with their great spikes and blocks to help them take the lead with a five-point clear at 10-5 in the second set. But Japan boys recovered in t both their defense and attack to reduce the margin and win the close set 25-23 for a 2-0 advantage. 

In the third set, Pakistan completely lost to Japan lon 18-25 to lose the game by a big margin. Pakistan came t fight fr the third spot when they went down to India by 3-1 in their semi-final encounter.

Meanwhile, Chinese Taipei romped to a 3-1 win over India in the final to win the gold medal with the set scores  of 25-21, 25-20, 19-25, 25-23. In the fifth-position outing, Kazakhstan won  over China by 3-2 and Australia crushed Sri Lanka 3-0 in the seventh-position match. 

Vietnam beat hosts, Myanmar 3-0 in the ninth-place showdown and Thailand finished at 11th as they trashed Bahrain 3-0. Qatar took the 13th spot when they won over Hong Kong 3-1 and Saudi Arabia ended 15th after beating New Zealand 3-0.

The Asian Men's U-23 Volleyball Championship is an international volleyball competition in Asia and Oceania contested by the under 23 men's national teams of the members of Asian Volleyball Confederation (AVC), the sport's continent governing body.

The 2017 edition of this championship had 11 nations competing for the title win among which Iran took the final victory home and which proved as their second title win in home soil. While Pakistan stood on 6th spot.

This year's edition was hosted by Myanmar in Nay Pyi Taw from 3rd to 11th August and featured a total of sixteen (16) teams that competed against each other so as to earn the ultimate title of this championship which was eventually taken by Chinese Taipei.
