Trials to select Punjab teams began

The trials for the selection of Punjab teams for taking part in the Quaid-e-Azam Inter-Provincial Games commenced here on Tuesday and the players were watched in action in seven disciplines at the various venues.
As many as 44 players reported in men and women hockey trials while 16 men and women players appeared in badminton, 30 men and women in karate, 45 men and women in athletics, 14 in tennis, 44 in football and 28 players featured in volleyball trials.
The Games will be staged in Islamabad Sports Complex from April 4 to 7.
“The Sports Board Punjab (SBP) has accelerated the preparations of the Games as holding of trials is part of our endeavor to pick best available talent to form strong Punjab teams to show encouraging results in the Games,” said SBP spokesman.
