Seven Zones to play in KRCA Club Cricket Championship 2019

The Karachi Regional Cricket Association (KRCA) is organizing a long-version of Club Cricket Championship 2019 to be played at different venues within the country.

The Karachi Regional Cricket Association (KRCA) President, Nadeem Omar announced a long-version Club Cricket Championship 2019 that is to be played between the city’s seven zones which will play five-day matches.

The initiative is the first of its kind in the history of club cricket in Pakistan and the dates of this new event will be decided soon. The KRCA chief remarked the step will help the Karachi cricketers to get used to long format of the game.
“We have seen that our players struggle when it comes to first-class or Test cricket because we don’t have Club championships of long format. This is why I have decided that KRCA will soon host a five-day Championship between our seven zones,” Nadeem said.
This will be an important step for the betterment of Karachi cricketers. They would not only get used to bowling long spells at the club level but they will have the chance to bat for long sessions which will ultimately be fruitful when they are prepared to exhibit their skills in the Inter-district and first-class competitions. This idea will surely help Karachi unearth players who wil be ready to represent Pakistan in the Test matches.

According to the format, there will be one team of each zone consisting of 16 squad members while there will be four reserves as well with each team.

The teams who will participate in the inaugural tournament are: Liaquatabad-Gulshan (Zone-I), Federal B Area-North Karachi (Zone-II), Saddar-Defence (Zone-III), Shah Faisal-Malir (Zone-IV), Landhi-Korangi (Zone-V), North Nazimabad-Orangi (Zone-VI) and Nazimabad-Baldia (Zone-VII).
