Mahoor Shahzad becomes first-ever Pakistani female to reach 149 in World Badminton Ranking

From world rank#173, Pakistan’s bigwig Mahoor Shahzad moved to the 149th place in World Badminton Ranking 2019. Mahoor is the first ever female badminton player of Pakistan to reach 150 in the world ranking.
PBF Secretary, Wajid Ali Chaudhry, who is also the BA Chairman Development Committee, said Mahoor Shahzad is the only Pakistani badminton player who would be sent to Denmark for one month intensive training in September from 1-30.
The 22-year-old has entered into the top 150, which makes it the first time ever a badminton player from Pakistan has achieved the feat in women’s singles. She represents WAPDA in the domestic structure and currently tops the national rankings.
“In sha Allah I will train with more determination to make to the top 70, so that I can qualify for Olympics 2020.” Mahoor told Khilari.
Mahoor stands at 149th in the rankings and through training in Denmark her skills would be enhanced making her excel in international tournaments in future, Wajid said and added we would be paying US$ 8,000 for her training at the academy through Asia Olympic Project (AOP) Program.
Jubilant Mahoor of WAPDA is holding the Pakistan No. 1 ranking by winning the national title since 2016 of women singles. After 25 wins in her vocation, the 22-year old is currently ranked at 149.
Karachi-predicated Mahoor showed her excellency and proved herself to be an honour for the whole country as Mahoor is the only Pakistani player among the 20 players selected from Asia to be a part of the program that prepares potential players for the Olympics.
Mahoor Shahzad won the Annapurna Corporate Invitational International Badminton Tournament Championships 2018 in Nepal. She also won the 2017 Pakistan International Tournament of badminton and also took part in the Asian Games and Commonwealth Games.
