National champion Mahoor Shahzad is up against top seed Neslihan Yigit of Turkey in the women singles main round.
After 22 wins in her vocation, the 22-year old Mahoor is currently ranked 173. Jubilant Mahoor of WAPDA is holding the Pakistan No. 1 ranking by winning the national title since 2016 of women singles.

Earlier, Palwasha Bashir overpowered Grace Gabriel of Nigeria by 2-0 in tough battle with the final score line of 21-19, 23-21 and book berth into the main round.
Palwasha, who has several trophies to her name, is now eyeing to be among top 100 in an attempt to qualify for next year’s Olympics and to achieve that she is aiming to play maximum tournaments in 2019.
In women’s doubles, Mahoor Shahzad & Palwasha Bashir will meet unseeded duo of Dorcas Ajoke Adesokan & Uchechukwu Deborah Ukeh from Nigeria.
