Pakistan wins big at 12th South Asian Bodybuilding Championship
Pakistan team overall bagged four medals at the 2019 South Asian Bodybuilding Championship which successfully concluded in Kathmandu, Nepal.
The 12th edition of South Asian Bodybuilding Championship concluded successfully yesterday where as many as 30 contestants from eight countries participated in the high-profile event which spread over three days.
Afghanistan proved to be the top performer in the championship with six gold medals, followed by India with four, and Nepal and Maldives with three.
Whereas among many other wining contestants, Pakistan won big at this international championship by overall claiming four medals including one Gold, one Silver and two Bronze medals.
Pakistan’s Usman Umar who hails from Lahore has claimed gold in the fitness physique competition.
Meanwhile, Muhammad Sayed from Quetta bagged the silver medal in bodybuilding contest of up to 90 KG weight category.
While Faheem Abbas, of Sialkot and Syed Fazal Elahi, who is from Karachi, won bronze medals in the same weight class of up to 90 KG.
Fazal, on his achievement, said that it was a golden opportunity for them to hoist the flag of Pakistan and they made the most of it.
“For us, it was an all-time opportunity and we hold it from both hands.”
While Quetta’s Saeed was of the view that the competition has given them confidence and they will try to achieve many more for Pakistan in the future.
“The competition was tough but we held our nerves high and finished the event on high.”
Chairman Pakistan Bodybuilding Federation, Sohail Anwer confirmed the biggest achievement for Pakistan which is that Pakistan will be hosting the next championship event in 2020, in which these winning bodybuilders of Pakistan will definitely take part.
