Rs 1.2 million National Football Challenge Cup 2019 to kick off from 19th July
Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) National Challenge Football Cup carrying Rs 1.2 million in prize money is all set to begin from July 19 at Tehmas Khan Football Stadium in Peshawar.
Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) is all set to organize another mega football event which has been named as "National Football Challenge Cup" into the current year which will commence its proceedings from 19th of July and will continue till 4th of August at Tehmas Khan Football Stadium in Peshawar.
As many as sixteen teams will be participating in this tournament, players from whom will be seen in complete action against each other, with giving their all so as to earn the ultimate title of the tournament. These teams belong to sixteen different departments of the country and will be equally divided into groups of four teams each.
Participating teams are: Pakistan Army, Pakistan Navy, Pakistan Air Force, Khan Research Laboratories, Pakistan Railways, Sui Southern Gas Company, National Bank of Pakistan, WAPDA, Masha United, Ashraf Sugar Mills, Pakistan Television, Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority, Pakistan Air Force Tigers, Karachi Port Trust, Pakistan Police and Karachi United.
Two matches will be played every day and League matches will be held during the first phase of the tournament. Two teams from each group will qualify for the quarterfinals.
This mega football event is offering an attractive prize money of Rupees 1.2 million which will equally be divided among the top three position holders that is: Rs. 500,000 to the title winners and the runner-up would get Rs. 300,000 while the team at third position would be awarded Rs. 200,000 as cash prizes. The winner of the fair play trophy would be given Rs. 70,000, best player Rs. 40,000, while best goal, best scorer, and best emerging players would also be awarded Rs. 30,000 each.
The inaugural edition of the tournament was played back in 1979. KRL is the most successful team winning the title six times. Allied Bank won the event four times. K-Electric’s Mohammad Rasool has been the all time top scorer with 23 goals.
