Gujranwala dominates Olympic Day Inter Club Wrestling Championship 2019 with 8 gold medals
As many as 100 wrestlers featured in the first ever Olympic Day Inter Club Wrestling Championship which successfully concluded at Shahbaz Sharif Sports Complex in Gujranwala.
The first ever Olympic Day Inter Club Wrestling Championship concluded successfully in which wrestlers from Gujranwala dominated this championship by winning eight gold and two silver medals and stood at the top spot.
While the runner up position was claimed by Lahore division, as the wrestlers from Lahore tried their best to win the top position but were mostly on the second spot to Gujranwala wrestlers in several competitions which were held, Lahori wrestlers were able to win three gold and seven silver medals.
Three spot was jointly won by Sheikupura and Faisalabad divisions.
To this win, the two-time Commonwealth Games gold medalist, Inam Butt remarked at the performance of his academy's wrestlers and the ones from Lahore that,
"Thanks to almighty Allah! Inam Wrestling Academy have won this championship. Lahore, well played, better be more prepared the next time."
Gujranwala Pakistan Wrestling Club in joint efforts with Pakistan's prominent wrestler, Muhammad Inam Butt organized the inaugural edition of Olympic Day Inter Club Wrestling Championship that was a step to hunt new talent in the sport of wrestling.
Around 100 under-14 and under-20 grapplers from five clubs of Gujranwala, Lahore, Faisalabad and Sheikhupura featured in this championship that were seen competing against each other with their full power, stamina and strength so as to win top honors in this championship, which was competed under the standard United World Wrestling rules.
