Huzaifa Ibrahim secure 3rd spot in the PBA 17th Penang Squash Open 2019

Huzaifa Ibrahim finished at 3rd spot in the boys U-15 category of prestigious Penang Squash Open which concluded in Penang, Malaysia

Pakistani players failed to take advantage of reaching the semi-finals of the prestigious Penang Squash Open which concluded in Penang, Malaysia where a group of 14 junior players participated in this Asian Junior Super Series Platinum Event. Eight of them finished between 33rd and 64th positions. 

Pakistan International Airlines Corporation (PIAC) player Huzaifa Ibrahim finished at 3rd spot in Boys U-15 category of 17th Penang Malaysian Junior Open 2019, against Hong Kong player Nathan Shuyou ,11-3, 14-12, 11-9.

Both Abdullah Nawaz and Huzaifa Ibrahim were beaten in their respective age categories by their respective opponents in the semi-finals.

In the Under-13 semi-final, Abdullah Nawaz was sent packing 1-3 by local kid Nikhaileswar. Abdullah lost first game 4-11 but he bounced back to take second game 11-6. It was highly close third game but Abdullah lost 9-11 and also lost 4th game 8-11.

In the Under-15 semi-final, Huzaifa Ibrahim, who had won the Borneo Junior Open Squash Tournament U-15 title last week, failed to repeat the same feat and lost semi-final 1-3 against Malaysian Jaochim Chuah. Huzaifa lost 8-11, 11-8, 8-11 and 5-11.

In under-13 category, Abdullah Nawaz finished fourth. In under-15 category, Huzaifa Ibrahim finished third, Humam Ahmed stood 10th, Mohammad Hanif took 12th position. 

In under-17 category, Ashab Irfan finished eighth. In under-19 category, Naveed Rehman stood 10th.

Players from Malaysia, India, China, Japan, Korea, Thailand, Philippines, Australia, New Zealand, England, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Chinese Taipei, USA, Singapore, Hongkong, South Korea and Pakistan participated in the mega tournament.

Pakistan Squash Federation must have to understand the reality that rather than banking on flop coaches, who can’t help players win non-ranking tournaments, they must hire reputed and those coaches who are proven stuff and had helped players turn into champions.
