Abdullah, Huzaifa, Ashab in 17th Penang Junior Open 2019 quarters

Pakistan’s squash prodigy Muhammad Huzaifa Ibrahim played marvelously to prove his mettle in the match as he defeated third seed Veroon Heng of Malaysia by 3-0. Former Asian Junior #1 Muhammad Huzaifa put a shiny start as he won the opening game by 11-3. Huzaifa continued his supremacy and played aggressively to win the second game by 11-3.

13 year old squash sensation Huzaifa who is a high performing junior player from Pakistan produce skillful game to sealed the third game with 11 points while the junior from Malaysia took only single point throughout the decider game.

Ninth seeded Huzaifa is drawn against 5th seed Arthur Law Pak Ki of Hong Kong in the under-15 category quarterfinal.

In under-13 pre-quarter-finals, Abdullah overpowered Iqwan Bin Hilman of Malaysia 11-5, 11-5, 9-11, 11-9. He will face Reece Holmes of New Zealand in the last-eight stage.

Pakistan’s Ashab Irfan caused a major upset in the Penang Junior Open Squash Championship eliminating fifth seed Hong Kong’s Au Lap Man to move into quarter-finals of U-17 contest. Ashab defeated Au Lap Man with the final score line of 11-7, 5-11, 11-9, 11-5. He will be up against second seed Ishant Shah of Malaysia in the quarters.

Humam Ahmed was defeated by Nathan Shuyou Rosenzweig of Hong Kong 4-11, 14-16, 8-11 and M Hanif was beaten by Oscar Curtis of Australia 6-11, 5-11, 6-11. In under-19 pre-quarter-finals, Naveed Rehman was overpowered by Darryl Gan Zi Kang of Malaysia 12-10, 6-11, 6-11, 4-11.

Players from Malaysia, India, China, Japan, Korea, Thailand, Philippines, Australia, New Zealand, England, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Chinese Taipei, USA, Singapore, Hongkong, South Korea and Pakistan are participating in the mega tournament.

Pakistani six players reached the pre-quarter-finals in their respective age categories but Huzaifa becomes the last hope for Pakistan who moved into the quarterfinal of Penang Squash Open Under-15 category.
