Wimbledon 2019: Aisam & Nadiia win Mixed Double opener

Unseeded pair of Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi & his Ukrainian partner Nadiia Kichenok defeated pair of Han Xinyun & Santiago González by 2-0 to move into the second round of Wimbledon Open 2019.

Unseeded pair of Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi & his Ukrainian partner Nadiia Kichenok defeated pair of Han Xinyun & Aisam’s men double Mexican partner Santiago González by 2-0 to move into the second round of Wimbledon Open 2019 in 1 hour 12-minute struggle. 

The first set lasted for 41 minutes where both the pairs ended on 6-6 after holding their serves. In the tie break, Pak-Ukraine duo started playing with aggression as they broke the 2nd & 4th serves of Mexican- Chinese duo to make it 6-2 and asserted their dominance in the game to avail the set point and won the opening set at 7(7)-6(2).

In the second set, spirited Aisam & Nadiia broke the very first serve of opponents as they produced skillful game with blistering exchanges but lost their own 3rd serve at 3-3. Pak-Ukraine duo played attentively as none of the two wanted to provide any chance to opponents and broke the very next serve of opponents to make it 4-3 and then hold their serves to win the set at 6-4 in just 31 minutes struggle and move into second round by 2-0. 

Today, Aisam & Nadiia will face tenth seeded pair of Venus & Katarina Srebotnik in the second round of mixed doubles. 

Qureshi teamed up with Ukraine's Nadiia Kichenok at Roland Garros and they immediately clicked, reaching the semi-finals despite only squeezing into the draw at the last minute.
