Pakistan off to a flying start in 26th Asian Junior Individual Squash Championship
Five Pakistani players displayed stunning game, overcoming their respective opponents in the 2019 Asian Junior Individual Squash Championship which is being held in Macau, China.
A total of eight talent players of squash from Pakistan are featuring in this mega event, among which, five of them toppled their respective opponents to book places in the further stages of the championship while two of them suffered defeat.
Eight Pakistani players are participating in Under-13, Under-15, Under-17 and Under-19 age groups at this continental championship.
According to Pakistan Squash Federation (PSF), Pakistan’s Abdullah Nawaz triumphed 11-1, 11-8, 11-2 in Under-13 first round, holding the sway throughout the proceedings as his opponent from Sri Lanka Bantgam Palage Nilantha failed to impose threats to him.
In Under-15 class' opening round, Pakistan's own, Mohammad Hamza Khan performed stunningly well against Ethan Chua Jie of Singapore 11-2, 11-8, 11-5 finishing it claiming the win.
Pakistan players Mohammad Farhan Hashmi and Noor Zaman got bye in Under-17 first round. In the second round, Farhan convincingly won over his counterpart, Dalina Perira of Sri Lanka 11-2, 11-2, 11-7 and Noor, displaying amazing game play, overcame Hong Yueng Siag of Chinese Taipei on 11-1, 11-0, 11-1.
In Under-19 first round, Haris Qasim of Pakistan had to struggle a little against Macau’s Manue Chan but ended the competition in his favor by 11-6, 11-6, 11-5. The Pakistan’s Hamza Sharif overpowered Wong King Yueng of Hong Kong 11-5, 10-12, 11-8, 11-6.
The two players from Pakistan who fell in their performances were: Saboor Khan and Anas Ali Shah. Saboor Khan had to suffer defeat though his Malaysian rival, Wong Lee Hong by 11-5, 11-9, 11-7 in the Under-13 category while Malaysia’s Harith Daniel overcame Anas Ali Shah on 7-11, 11-5, 11-8, 11-7.
