Omega, Mamba & KBBC sweeps their way into 3rd Commissioner Cup Basketball Tournament semis
Omega Club, Mamba Squad and KBBC booked their spots into the semi-final stage of 2019 Commissioner Cup Basketball Tournament which is being held at Armabagh basketball court in Karachi.
Omega Basketball Club completed its quarterfinal sweep of Neighborhood Basketball Club to advance to the 3rd Commissioner Cup Basketball Tournament final four. The winning team have looked impressive thus far and have been one of the most successful teams in the tournament. They completed their sweep with an 51-47 victory in Game 1.
Neighborhood Club was unable to produce an answer to Omega Club but it was not an embarrassing blowout though, as boys from both the teams played their hearts out as they left all on the line in this do-or-die game.
Anas Azhar with 22 points led his team to success with valuable contribution from Usman and Taimur Zaheer, each scoring 12 points while for the losers, Umar Kashif scored best 20 points.
Kenneth Johnson and Talha scored the game-high 13 points in the second encounter between Mamba Squad and Nishter Club. They had the hot hand for their team, connecting on same shots from deep and when Mohammad Asif and Noman increased up the pressure with their 12 and 10 points, Nishter Club was punished with loss of the game on 53-42.
Karachi Basketball Club (KBBC) closed out the clash against rivals, One Unit Club convincingly on 50-38, thanks to superior defense of the winning team's players.
From the get-go it was clear that KBBC team wanted to close out the last game of the day in their favor, despite the disadvantages inherent to them from the opponent side. They started off strong as planned through Jahanzeb Abbasi and Zain Ul Abedeen who were unstoppable as they dubbed 20 points each and Wajih Abbas was also seen on fire in this game with his 18 points contributed to his team big win.
Assistant Commissioner Arambagh, Mutahir Hameed Watoo was the honorable chief guest who witnessed the quarter final games being played while Commissioner Karachi, Iftikhar Ali Shalwani will be the guest of honor at the final of the tournament which is to be played today at 09:00 PM.
