Around 4,000 Athletes to feature in 33rd edition of the National Games 2019
Around 4,000 male and female athletes will participate in 34 different disciplines during this year’s National Games.
Around 4,000 male and female athletes will participate in 34 different disciplines during this year’s National Games. This was announced in a meeting of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Olympic Association which was held here a local hotel with president Syed Aqil Shah in the chair.
The 33rd edition of the Games will be hosted by Peshawar, most probably in October.
The meeting discussed the player’s participation quota announced by the Pakistan Olympic Association for the National Games, venues, availability of officials, pending elections of various associations affiliated with the KP Olympic Association and the matters regarding suspension of the Pakistan Cycling Federation, Pakistan Judo Federation and the Pakistan Football Federation.
Aqil told the meeting that they have asked 10 different associations archery, athletics, bodybuilding, judo, cycling, wrestling, rugby, sailing, tug of war and rowing to conduct fresh elections well before July 15, 2019.
He said it is mandatory that the above-mentioned associations would also include districts of the merged tribal areas in their election besides officially inviting nominees of their respective federation, KP Olympic Association, and directorate of sports KP as observers.
According to Aqil, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was allotted 600 players in the official quota, Balochistan, Punjab and Sindh 410 each, Islamabad 156, Azad Jammu and Kashmir 106 and Gilgit-Baltistan 106. Besides the provincials association players from other units including Pakistan Army, Pakistan Air Force, Pakistan Police, Railways, Higher Education Commission would take part.
