350 players featuring in Directorate of Sports Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Floodlight Games 2019
350 players are participating in 18 different disciplines of Directorate of Sports Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Floodlight Games 2019 at Hayatabad sports complex.
Rs. 1 Million Directorate of Sports Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Floodlight Games 2019 continue in full swing as the colourful ceremony was started with the recitation from Holy Quran by five-year-old Qari Huzaifa, followed by National Anthem. The Taekwondo kids alongside large number of spectators presented the National anthem.
A smart demonstration of Taekwondo, Gymnastic and Karate children in front of jam-packed indoor hall has turned the whole complexion into a melodious one. The Games would continue till May 31, followed by presentation ceremony on the same day.
Assistant Commissioner of Peshawar Development Authority (PDA) Miss Rizwana Dar Tuesday termed youth sports are a fun way to increase a child’s physical activity level and develop lifelong habits for good health besides teaching them good discipline, tolerance, obey roles and above all the enhancement of physical and mental development of children is certainly the most important contribution of sports for children.
This she said soon after inaugurating five different sports events part of the ongoing Ramadan Floodlight Games, simultaneously being continued in across the province. Chief Planning Officer Govt of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Asif Shahab, Director National Book Foundation Murad Khan, international athletic coach Syed Jaffar Shah, Olympian Nasrullah Khan, Secretary General KP Badminton Association Haji Amjad Khan, national badminton coach Nadeem Khan, Gymnastic Coach Muhammad Gul, players and large number of spectators were also present.
In his introductory remarks, Syed Jaffar Shah said that this year the Directorate of Sports KP decided to hold Ramadan Floodlight Games across the province and out of total 18 different disciplines Hayatabad Sports Complex is hosting Table Tennis (male & female), badminton (male & female), squash (male & female), Taekwondo (male & female), Karate (male & female), Gymnastic (male & female) wherein 350 players are taking part.
He said the winners and runners-up and other position holders players would be provided cash prizes and certificates besides other facilities during the Games. Syed Jaffar Shah disclosed that for ensuring maximum participation all the regional headquarters are holding various disciplines part of the overall Ramadan Games.
Speaking on this occasion, Miss Rizwana Dar lauded the Directorate of Sports KP for initiating Games during Holy month of Ramadan wherein hundreds of players are taking part in 18 different Games, spreading over seven regional headquarters including Dera Ismail Khan, Bannu, Kohat, Mardan, Swat, Hazara and Peshawar.
Miss Rizwan Dar said that due to its vast reach, unparalleled popularity and foundation of positive values, sport is definitely one of the greatest things man has ever created. It’s also a powerful tool that breaks down all the barriers and helps us feel good about ourselves, both physically and mentally, she added.
Sport, she said, is quite beneficial for children too and by playing sports children develop physical skills, exercise, make new friends, have fun, learn to be a team member, learn about play fair, improve self-esteem, etc.
The enhancement of physical and mental development of children is certainly the most important contribution of sports, but the list of values your child may learn and acquire through sports does not end here, he said, adding, “Other positive aspects are numerous, which reveals the true beauty of sport.”
