Pakistan’s tennis ace Aisam ul Haq Quershi along and his Mexican partner Santiago Gonzale will participate in the Roland Garros 2019 which begins in Paris from May 26 - June 09.

Pakistan’s tennis ace Aisam ul Haq Quershi along and his Mexican  partner Santiago Gonzale will participate in the Roland Garros 2019 which begins in Paris from May 26 - June 09.

The unseeded PAK-Marxian pair ranked 64 and 46, will face Serbian pair of Dusan Lajovic & Janko Tipsarevic on tomorrow(29th May), in Paris, France.

Gonzalez, 36, and Qureshi, 39, briefly teamed up in 2008, capturing a challenger title in Brazil, but they wouldn’t pursue a long-term partnership until 2018.

Earlier, Mexican Santiago Gonzalez Aisam-Ul-Haq Qureshi won their first ATP Tour title as they sealed Fayez Sarofim & Co. U.S. Men’s Clay Court Championship 2019. It is Gonzalez’s 13th ATP Tour victory, and Qureshi’s 17th.

Aisam's best performance in this grand slam was in 2012 when he reached the semi-finals. In 2011, he reached the quarter-finals stage. In 2010, he lost in the second round. In 2003 and 2008, his journey ended in the first round. Gonzalez reached the final of this grand slam in 2017.

Gonzalez and Qureshi reached their first tour-level final in February at the New York Open, ultimately falling short. But they took the next step at the ATP 250 clay-court event, entering the winners’ circle after one hour and 24 minutes. It’s been a long time coming for the Mexican-Pakistani duo, which captured an ATP Challenger Tour trophy together in Brazil 11 years ago.

Roland Garros was the first Grand Slam tournament to join the "Open" era in 1968, and since then many tennis greats have graced the famous clay courts, including Björn Borg, Ivan Lendl, Mats Wilander, Gustavo Kuerten, Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic. Home fans will never forget 1983, the year Yannick Noah became the first, and so far only Frenchman to win the singles title. In 2018, Nadal became the first man in tennis history to win 11 titles at the same Grand Slam championship.
