A post interval comeback helped hosts Aga Khan University (AKU) overcome Dow University of Health Sciences (DUHS) by 15-14 points to retain their title in the fifth AKU Inter-collegiate/university girls’ basketball tournament at their premises on Tuesday evening.
The winners trailed 6-7 at half time in the low scoring final.
Captain Amn Siddiqui led her team from the front scoring five points and was ably assisted by Sunniya Shaukat and Aqsa Khalid who scored four points apiece for the winners.
Meeshal Khan top scored with six points but in vain as her team lost by slender margin. Elaina Butt scored four.
Ayesha Tariq of the AKU was declared Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the tournament while Elaina Butt (DUHS), Maha Bhagat (Nixor College), Tooba Javaid (BUMDC) and Sunniya Shaukat (AKU) were given consolation prizes.
Dr. Ayesha Mian, Associate Professor and Chair, department of Psychiatry, AKU and entrepreneur Nadia Hussain gave away the prizes.
