Pakistan's best taekwondo fighter, Haroon Tareen falls by just 1 point against Rui Braganca of Portugal in 2019 World Taekwondo Championships

Top notch Pakistani taekwondo star continued his best performance in his third match against Portugal's Rui Braganca, but lost by just 1 point in the 2019 World Taekwondo Championships which are being held at Ehihad Stadium in Manchester, UK.

The rising star of Pakistan taekwondo, Haroon Tareen was up against his counterpart from Portugal named: Rui Bragança, who is also the 2016 Olympian, in the third fight yesterday, in which he performed brilliantly and kept taking on his opponent with his full might, while on the other hand, the Portugal fighter was also skilled and did not let his guard down. 

In the last 2 seconds, the score was 8-9 but Bragança landed a body shot and won the match by 10-9. 

Although Haroon lost his last game, he has dominated both of his previous rounds, first against the strong fighter from Poland named: Mateusz Nowak, beating him by huge margin of 25-13. Then he won his second fight over European World Champion from Belgium namely: Laachraoui Mourad, defeating him by 33-28. 

The above mentioned wins are considered one of the biggest fights of Haroon's short international career. He featured in -58 KG weight category in this international event. 

While another taekwondo star from Pakistan, Shazaib Khan won his first round fight by defeating his opponent Bahruz Guluzade of Azerbaijan on 28-19 in the M-54 KG weight class. Now Shazaib will have his second fight against a Filipino counterpart named: Kurt Bryan Barbosa. 

Pakistan Taekwondo Federation have fielded four of its best players to feature in the 2019 World Taekwondo Championships which includes: Shahzaib Khan, Haroon Tareen, Rab Nawaz and Naqsh Hamdani.
