The Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) announced on Wednesday that the Quaid-i-Azam Inter-provincial Games will start here at the Sports Complex from April 4 to 7.
Competitions in athletics, boxing, judo, karate, taekwondo, tennis, badminton, squash, table tennis, wrestling, football, hockey and volleyball will be organised during the Games.
A meeting was held at the Pakistan Sports Complex to discuss the issues in connection with the organisation of the Games with PSB director general Dr Akhtar Nawaz Ganjera in the chair.
In the last fiscal year, the Planning Commission of Pakistan had approved Rs500 million rupees for the PSB to hold the Games in the next five years.
In the fiscal year 2014-15, the government had allocated Rs100 million for holding the inaugural edition of the Games but the PSB, despite spending Rs18 million could not hold the event in time, and the remaining amount was surrendered.
For fiscal year 2015-16, the government has approved Rs 137 million rupees for holding this game.
“We have been given the funds to hold the event and we are finalising preparations,” Ganjera said.
