Army’s 6 fighters qualifies for 37th National Boxing Championship finals
Pugilists from Army team dominated the semi-final fights contested into National Boxing Championship 2019 which is in progress at Pakistan Sports Complex in Islamabad.
Pakistan Boxing Federation (PBF) has organized the National Boxing Championship, into the current which marks it's 37th edition and is featuring a total of 118 pugilists from the affiliated units of Pakistan Boxing Federation (PBF), whose boxers are competing in 10 different weight categories of: 49 KG, 52 KG, 56 KG, 60 KG, 64 KG, 69 KG, 75 KG, 81 KG, 91 KG and 91+ KG.
The fourth day and semi-final stage of the championship had a total of six different weight classes fights being conducted in which six fights are won by the pugilists belonging to Army while WAPDA boxers won four contests. Navy team also won four fights.
The Light Flyweight 46 - 49 KG weigh category winner stood Mohammad Saeed from Army, who defeated his opponent from Railways team named; Mohammad Mussawar while in the same class, Navy's Daud Khan also claimed a spot in the final stage by defeating his counterpart from Sindh, Shoaib Rasheed.
WAPDA boxer, Atta Ullha won over PAF's Mehroz and Syed Mohammad Asif also won his fight of the Flyweight 52 KG weigh category. Bantamweight 56 KG fight was won by Naqeeb Ullah of WAPDA as he defeated his Army enemy, Mohammad Ismail. Naimatullah from PAF claimed the win over Ahmed Afridi of Sindh as well.
Mohammad Ashraf from Railways clinched the win of Lightweight 60 KG event fight when he defeated an opponent from Balochistan, Sikandar Mirza. Army's Ibrahim Khan and won over Sheraz from Navy in the same weight class competitions.
Light welterweight 64 KG win was taken by Adnan Hassan from PAF and Ali Ahmed of WAPDA. Gulzaib belonging to Army also defeated his counterpart from Balochistan, Abdul Samad. Saif Manan (Army) took home the win of the fight against Saifullah (WAPDA)
and Amir Khan (WAPDA) also defeated Salar Abid (KP), similarly, Gul Zeb from Army won over Abdul Samad from Balochistan, all in 69 KG weight contest.
75 KG event's winner stood Navy fighter, Tanveer who defeated Ehsan Ullah ofBalochistan and 81 KG contest win was clinched by Awais Ali Khan against Faisal Khan, both from Army and WAPDA, respectively. Ajmal Pathan (Balochistan) defeated Mohammad Naeem (PAF) in the same weight class.
