Syed Mohammad Asif books berth in 37th National Boxing Championship semi-finals
Syed Mohammad Asif defeated Talal Hussain to make his way into the semi-final stage of 37th National Boxing Championship which is in progress at Pakistan Sports Complex in Islamabad.
A total of 5 different weight category competitions were contested on the second day of 37th National Boxing Championship in which the top winner stood out to be Syed Mohammad Asif, Pakistani's leading boxer, as he defeated his counterpart from Islamabad, Talah Hussain in the flyweight category.
Hailing from Army, Asif is well known for his solid performance in the Commonwealth Games in Australia last year.
The second encounter was between Sindh's Shoaib Rasheed and Mohammad Yasin from Pakistan Air Force (PAF) in the 49 KG category, in which the Sindh fighter won by 5-0. In 52 KG weight category fight, Mohammad Qasim of Balochistan defeated Sindh's Shahzeb Khan.
Another boxer from Army, Saif Ul Manan again defeated Islamabad's fighter Amjad in the 75 KG weight category fight. Hasnain Ali of PAF also won over Gilgit-Baltistan's boxer Zeeshan Ali.
Pakistan Boxing Federation (PBF) has organized the National Boxing Championship, into the current which marks it's 37th edition and is featuring a total of 118 pugilists from the affiliated units of Pakistan Boxing Federation (PBF), whose boxers are competing in 10 different weight categories of: 49 KG, 52 KG, 56 KG, 60 KG, 64 KG, 69 KG, 75 KG, 81 KG, 91 KG and 91+ KG.
