The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced the schedule of national U-19 team’s tour to South Africa during which Pakistan will play seven one-dayers as part of their 2020 ICC World Cup preparations.
The tour runs from June 19 to July 7.
The global ICC event is scheduled to be held in South Africa from Jan 17 to Feb 9 next year. The series against South Africa will be played in Pietermaritzburg, capital of KwaZulu-Natal, and Durban, the province’s largest city.
South Africa will be Pakistan U-19’s second important tour this year and is part of PCB’s strategy of reviving and investing on pathway cricket.
However, the first tour of this year is in question because of the recent deadly bomb blasts in Colombo, killing and injuring hundreds.
Originally, Pakistan U-19 squad was scheduled to tour Sri Lanka from April 30. However, after the tragic bomb blasts in Colombo the PCB is waiting for a final approval from its Sri Lankan counterpart.
The squad and the team management for the South Africa tour will be announced in due course. The players born on or after Sept 1, 2000 will be eligible for selection.
