Highlanders, IBA’s Lakshmi, AFC & Karachilona FCs qualify for Leisure Leagues Intra-City Championship 2019
Highlanders, IBA’s Lakshmi, AFC & Karachilona FCs defeated their respective opponents to qualify for the Leisure Leagues Intra-City Championship 2019 which is to be held in July in year.
All of the finalist teams have now qualified for the Leisure Leagues Karachi Intra-City Championship 2019, which will see over 80 league champions and runner-ups battling for a berth to represent host Karachi in Leisure Leagues National Championship, tentatively scheduled to be held in July.
All of the eight teams featured in the tournament, comprised of IBA students and alumni. In the summit clash, Ahsan and Bahlole scored one goal each to help their side win the event.
Earlier in semifinals, Lakshmi Football Club completely dominated the match and crushed the North Boys by 6-1 score line with Ahsan Jamil scoring four goals along side with Arsalan, for the winners. Highlanders received walkover against Jaka Football Club.
Whereas, AFC and Karachilona FC have also qualified for Leisure Leagues Karachi City Championship 2019 after finishing as top two teams respectively of the ten-team Leisure Leagues six-a-side Football League held at KUFF Ground.
AFC remained unbeaten throughout the league winning all of its nine matches to accumulate 18 points - maximum number of points that could be achieved. In its last round match, AFC defeated Junooni FC 4-2 with Haseeb scoring all the goals for the winning side.
Karachilona FC accumulated 15 points – with seven wins, a draw and a lost match to finish second on the points table. The team received walkover against Anaari United in its last league match. While Joga Bonito, Killer FC, 7 Squad, 911 FC, Football Maniacs and Chitral FC also participated in the league.
The winning team of Leisure Leagues National Championship 2019 will represent Pakistan in the second edition of Socca World Cup, which will be held in Greece in October later this year.
